Sensory Interactive provided planning, design, and implementation services for a large-scale digital media wall that greets visitors and staff in the main entry lobby of Salesforce’s offices at 50 Fremont Street. Also known as Salesforce West, the building is part of Salesforce’s headquarters complex in San Francisco.
We began the project by working with the Salesforce team to develop a thorough understanding of their objectives and the resources available for the development and ongoing management of any digital installation. As part of this process, we also helped the client to better understand the opportunities and challenges that accompany the use of digital media in the built environment.
This initial planning exercise led to a decision to prioritize the main lobby installation and make this the cornerstone of a more expansive digital platform that could be phased in across the Customer Experience Center and other buildings within the headquarters complex.
We executed this planning process – like every aspect of the project – on a very tight time frame because Salesforce was committed to launching an installation in time for their Dreamforce 2015 customer event. In order to meet this deadline, we worked in close coordination with a large and diverse project team. This team included architect Gensler and their structural, electrical, mechanical, and acoustical consultants; GCI and their subcontractors; and SNA, which manufactured and installed the LED video display. We also coordinated our work with a varied group of internal Salesforce team members, and with their project manager, Cushman & Wakefield.
The tight schedule and complexity of the project required us to coordinate the daily work of multiple construction trades with SNA’s installation crew and subcontractors, oversee the timely completion of factory acceptance testing for the LED components, and develop an initial content launch program.
Following project installation and commissioning, we took over the operational management of the installation and currently provide day-to-day, hour-by-hour remote monitoring of the display. The management of the display by our operational services team and the development of content by our creative content team are part of our ongoing relationship with Salesforce at facilities throughout its corporate real estate portfolio.
